W roku 1990 została mistrzynią Europy[2], a rok później – w 1991 – wywalczyła mistrzostwo świata[3]. Czterokrotna medalistka halowych mistrzostw świata[4] – Sewilla 1991 (złoto), Toronto 1993 (srebro), Budapeszt 1989 oraz Barcelona 1995 (brąz). W 1992 wynikiem 2,07 ustanowiła halowy rekord świata (dziś jest to 2. wynik w historii światowej lekkoatletyki i rekord Niemiec). Swój najlepszy rezultat na stadionie – 2,05 – uzyskała 31 sierpnia 1991 w Tokio.
W 1991 roku triumfowała w łącznej klasyfikacji punktowej wszystkich konkurencji w cyklu Grand Prix oraz wygrała prestiżowy plebiscyt Track & Field Athlete of the Year[5].

The flag of Navassa Island is simply the United States flag. It does not have a "local" flag or "unofficial" flag; it is an uninhabited island. The version with a profile view was based on Flags of the World and as a fictional design has no status warranting a place on any Wiki. It was made up by a random person with no connection to the island, it has never flown on the island, and it has never received any sort of recognition or validation by any authority. The person quoted on that page has no authority to bestow a flag, "unofficial" or otherwise, on the island.
