Pittsburgh Pirates – drużyna baseballowa grająca w centralnej dywizji National League, ma siedzibę w Pittsburghu w stanie Pensylwania. Pięciokrotny zwycięzca w World Series.

Historia

Pittsburgh Alleghenies w 1888 roku.
Forbes Field w 1910 roku.
Three Rivers Stadium.
PNC Park.

Pięć lat później zespół wstąpił w szeregi National League i 30 kwietnia 1887 rozegrał pierwszy mecz; przeciwnikiem była drużyna Chicago White Stockings, a spotkanie obejrzało 10 tysięcy widzów[2]. W grudniu 1891 klub zmienił nazwę na Pittsburgh Pirates[2].

W 1903 Pirates uzyskali awans do World Series, w których ulegli Boston Americans 3–5 (grano wówczas do pięciu wygranych meczów)[2][3][4]. Kolejne mistrzostwo zespół wywalczył w 1925, kiedy to wygrał z Washington Senators 4–3[3][7]. Dwa lata później Pirates ulegli w World Series, mającym w składzie między innymi Babe Rutha i Lou Gehriga New York Yankees 0–4[3][8].

W kwietniu 1968 rozpoczęto budowę nowego, mogącego pomieścić 47 952 widzów, obiektu Three Rivers Stadium, którego do użytku oddano w 1970; całkowity koszt budowy wyniósł 55 milionów dolarów[10]. W sezonach 1971 i 1979 Pirates wygrywali World Series 4–3 (dwukrotnie z Baltimore Orioles)[11][12].

The flag of Navassa Island is simply the United States flag. It does not have a "local" flag or "unofficial" flag; it is an uninhabited island. The version with a profile view was based on Flags of the World and as a fictional design has no status warranting a place on any Wiki. It was made up by a random person with no connection to the island, it has never flown on the island, and it has never received any sort of recognition or validation by any authority. The person quoted on that page has no authority to bestow a flag, "unofficial" or otherwise, on the island.
