Cichorioideae – podrodzina w obrębie astrowatych (Asteraceae). Obejmuje dużą grupę 93 rodzajów z 1,5 tysiącem gatunków (dodatkowo należy tu co najmniej 7,5 tysiąca mikrogatunków)[2]. W końcu drugiego dziesięciolecia XXI wieku podrodzina została uszczuplona do jednego plemienia Cichorieae, ponieważ inne plemiona tradycyjnie tu włączane tworzą odrębny klad czyniąc podrodzinę we wcześniejszym ujęciu taksonem parafiletycznym. Wyodrębnione one zostały w podrodzinę Vernonioideae[4].
Podrodzina jest niemal kosmopolityczna, przy czym najbardziej zróżnicowana jest na półkuli północnej[5], zwłaszcza w strefie umiarkowanej. Tylko nieliczne gatunki obecne są w tropikach[2].
Wiek grupy koronnej podrodziny datowany jest na 23,5 miliona lat[4][2].
