Flaga stanowa Utah przedstawia bielika amerykańskiego, symbolizującego nadrzędność i opiekę rządu federalnego. Ul oznacza pracowitość osadników. Otoczony kwiatami trojednika - symbol pokoju, gdyż Indianie uważają je za święte i nigdy nie walczyli na terenach, gdzie rosły. Daty oznaczają przybycie pierwszych osadników (1847) i przyjęcie stanu do Unii (1896). Patriotyzm, obok orła, symbolizuje także błękit pochodzący z kantonu flagi państwowej - częsty motyw na flagach stanowych.
