Hrabstwo Clay – rolnicze hrabstwo położone w Stanach Zjednoczonych w północnej części stanu Teksas, poprzez rzekę Red River graniczące z Oklahomą[2]. Według spisu w 2020 roku liczy blisko 10,2 tys. mieszkańców, w tym 89,1% stanowi ludność biała nie-latynoska[3]. Siedzibą władz hrabstwa jest największe miasto Henrietta[3].

Na terenie hrabstwa znajduje się park stanowy Lake Arrowhead[4].

Pierwszy Kościół Baptystów w Henrietta został pierwotnie założony w 1876 roku. W 2013 roku kościół liczył ponad 1300 członków[5].

Historia

Hrabstwo utworzono w 1857 roku z hrabstwa Cooke oraz terenów leżących na zachód, jednak przez wiele lat podlegało przemianom a ostateczny kształt uzyskało dopiero w 1895[1]. Nazwa hrabstwa pochodzi od nazwiska Henry'ego Claya, prawnika i sekretarza stanu Stanów Zjednoczonych w latach 1824-29[6][2].

Religia

W 2010 roku większość mieszkańców to ewangelikalni protestanci (głównie baptyści, ale także metodyści, campbellici, bezdenominacyjni i zielonoświątkowcy). W hrabstwie było tylko 180 katolików i stanowili oni 1,7% populacji[7].
