Runda kwalifikacyjna odbyła się 7 września. Każdy ze strzelców oddawał 60 strzałów, po 20 w pozycji leżącej, 20 w pozycji klęczącej i 20 w pozycji stojąc. Zawodnicy startowali w dwóch grupach. Do finału kwalifikowało się 54 strzelców z najlepszymi wynikami[5].
