Close-up the Christ Pantocrator in the dome of Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio, parish of San Nicolò "dei Greci" alla Martorana for the Italo-Albanians in Palermo, Sicily, IT. It is the co-cathedral of the Eparchy of Piana degli Albanesi, one the Catholics eparchies observing the Byzantine rite of the Italo-Albanian Church. The church was built in 1143 at the behest of a Melkite-Syrian, admiral during the Norman period, and soon became a Latin rite. In 1935 he returned to observe the Byzantine rite by the Albanian communities, which for over five centuries have practiced it in Sicily. In 1937 it became co-cathedral of the eparchy of Piana degli Albanesi, and since 1945 the seat of the Italo-Albanian parish of Palermo.
