Northern Rail Class 156 DMU 156463 in the siding immediately south of Sunderland station between services to and from Carlisle is passed by Tyne and Wear Metro EMU 4060 en route from South Hylton to St James in Newcastle city centre. This photo shows that the two units are built to different loading guages, although the smaller Metro guage is still significantly larger than that of tube trains on London Underground
