A just hatched male of the Brilliant Emerald (Somatochlora metallica) in the Ahlenmoor, a peatland in northern Lower Saxony, Germany.
Consider the uniformly brightly colored compound eyes and the gloss of the not yet completely hardened wings, which refer to freshly hatched individuals. Ripe specimens are nearly only found patrolling.
