The Zuricher mercenary Wilhelm Frölich in 1549. This is the only full-length portrait by the painter Hans Asper. Juxtaposing the representation of the mercenary's success, the helmet-bearing putto at the painting's precipice admonishes, "Angst und Not währt bis in Tod" ["Fear and misery lasts until death"].
