Ye Jianying (simplified Chinese: 叶剑英; traditional Chinese: 葉劍英; pinyin: Yè Jiànyīng; Wade-Giles: Yeh Chien-ying; Jyutping: Yip Gim-ying) (28 April 1897 – 22 October 1986) was a Chinese Communist general and the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress from 1978 to 1983.
